My name is Therese L. Broderick. The first name is French, pronounced “tair EZ”.

I reside in Albany, New York, with my husband and our teenage daughter. I have been active in my local poetry community as an open mic reader, a workshop leader, a critique group member, and an adult ed teacher. I also mentor through correspondence. I have been a featured poet on several occasions.
My poetry prizes include: an “Intro Journals Project” award from the Association of Writers and Writing Programs; a Third Place, a Special Honorable Mention, and an Honorable Mention award from the ByLine freelance writing magazine; an Honorable Mention award from the website Tattoo Highway; a First Place in one local poetry invitational; a First Place in one local poetry contest. I received state arts monies as a featured poet at one Saratoga Poetry Zone reading.
I received my MFA degree in poetry from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition, I have attended two New York State Writers Institute seminars, the Writers@Work conference, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, the Duluth Writers’ Workshop, one weekend seminar at Poets House, one weekend workshop at The Poetry Factory, and one home seminar with Bernadette Mayer. I have received professional development credit for attending a teacher’s workshop on “writing from art” at the Williams College Museum of Art. I have received continuing education credit for completing an online class at Union Institute & University. I was trained as a poetry coach by professional storyteller and coach Doug Lipman.
My publication credits include: Poet Lore (forthcoming), Spoon River Poetry Review, The Louisville Review, The Heartland Review, Arts Across Kentucky, Puerto del Sol, Other, Barnwood, The 2River View, qarrtsiluni, Innisfree Poetry Journal (forthcoming), Poet’s Ink Review, Aurorean (forthcoming), two local chapbooks, one local anthology, and the nationally-distributed anthology Women.Period (forthcoming). One of my poems appeared in a locally-produced greeting card. The River Reporter newspaper published my two book reviews.

It was so great to see you in Troy…I did not know about the peotry for men in recovery..that is relaly wonderful…would love to know more about that.
